/ The Boxtrolls
The Boxtrolls, at Laika Studios, was my first time working in the amazing world of Stop Motion animation. What an incredible medium that is! And for a person who cut his teeth in the pre-digital live-action visual effect world, walking into Laika that first day was like stepping into Santa’s workshop. Not only a feast for the eyes, but also a wonderland of both high and low tech. Not to mention, the puppets, props and miniature sets! Absolutely dazzling! A strong and humbling tip of the hat to the good folks who make their careers in stop motion.

Color Script
The following images are paintings I did for the color script, the purpose of which was to design the color, lighting, and mood for each of the sequences of the film. Most of these are based on storyboard drawings done by the story team, as well as some set design concept drawings by Michel Breton and Tom McClure. A few of them are photo-bash paintings made up of character, set and prop photos with painting on top.
